The National Commissioner may issue requests to government bodies to provide information to support the Independent Review. The responses to these requests for information can be viewed on this page, to ensure the Review is carried out in the most open and transparent way possible.
On 16 November 2020, the interim National Commissioner requested the Department of Defence (Defence) and the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) provide information they have on any relevant reports, reviews or inquiries since 2001, and the status of the response to these reports, reviews or inquiries.
- The DVA response was provided on 15 December 2020
- The Defence response was provided on 16 December 2020
On 16 November 2020, the interim National Commissioner also asked Defence, DVA, and the Inspector-General of the Australian Defence Force to provide any information they have on current and ex-serving ADF members who have died by suicide since 2001. To ensure the confidentiality of these individuals, and respect the privacy of their families, this information is not publicly available.
