Defence and Veteran Suicide: Prevention through Understanding symposium
The National Commissioner invites you to attend the first research symposium for 2021, “Defence and Veteran Suicide: Prevention through Understanding”.
The role of the interim National Commissioner includes commencing work on the Independent Review of Past Defence and Veteran Suicides. The Independent Review will provide the National Commissioner with further insights and a deeper understanding as to why these tragic deaths are happening and to prevent future suicides in the defence and veteran community. Dr Boss is deeply committed to making a difference through her inquiries, findings and recommendations. Through this research symposium the expertise and knowledge of the speakers will provide crucial insights to support the work of the National Commissioner to make a difference to serving members, veterans and their families. This information will add to the valuable insights gained through engagement with members, veterans, families and community groups.
About the event
The National Commissioner is convening a symposium of academics, experts and practitioners to discuss current and emerging research on mental health and suicide in the defence and veteran community.
When: Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 March 2021.
Time: Conference - 8:30am – 4:15pm Wednesday, 8:30am – 3:15pm Thursday | Complimentary networking drinks on Wednesday 10 March from 4:30pm – 6:30pm.
Location: QT Hotel, 1 London Circuit, Canberra.
Pricing: In-person attendance $100 per day.
Live stream attendance: No cost.
Note: Veterans and their families can request a fee waiver for in-person attendance by first contacting the Office of the National Commissioner on email@example.com or 1800 570 819.
Conference registration is mandatory for both in-person and live stream attendance.
Registration for in-person attendance will close at 4:00pm on Wednesday 3 March 2021; registration for the webcast will close at 4:00pm on Monday 9 March 2021.
